home-baked instruments, crunchy round the edges
I'm Kiki. I make music as STONE, and I build the instruments I can't find anywhere else. Brownie Digital is where they live. Brown is my favourite colour.
An 8-bit sampler rebuilt from a 1985 home keyboard. Sample anything and it comes back crunchy, wobbly and alive. Then bend the circuit.

Brownie Digital is one person. No subscriptions, no accounts, no tracking. You pay once and the instrument is yours, on your Mac, working whether you're online or not.

One price, one licence key, three of your Macs. No yearly fee, ever.
Works offline
Unlock it once. After that it only checks in now and then when you happen to be online.
Made by a musician
Every instrument starts as something I needed for a STONE track.

STONE is my music: trip hop, drum & bass, IDM and alt-rock pulled into one sound. Four releases so far, from Promises Like Ghosts to Pebbles, on Bandcamp and everywhere you stream.
That's me. Most of the photos here were taken on the same little camera, mostly at night, mostly with the flash on.

every empty roomhas a hum.
Record it. Microsampler 85' turns it into an instrument, 8 bits at a time.
side quests
When I'm not making music or plug-ins I'm usually trying to get some old game I loved running again. These two are free and open source, up on my GitHub.
RTKContinued
a C++ port of Rule the Kingdom
Rule the Kingdom was a city-building RPG on Android from 2012, made by innoWate and put out by Game Insight. I played it for hours with my mom. It needed the publisher's servers for basically everything, so when those shut down the game just stopped working.
RTKContinued rebuilds it in C++, function by function from the original game library, The port is finished: the whole game runs again on Windows, Mac and Linux, fully offline and with no real-money stuff, so you can play a kingdom start to finish. You need your own copy of the original game files.

After Midnight
Midnight Mansion HD is Vern Jensen's puzzle platformer from 2011: Jack Malone sneaking through haunted mansions full of levers, keys, secret passages, Medusas and spiders. The Mac version doesn't run on new Macs anymore, so I rebuilt it from the original release.
With the new options off it plays exactly like the original. Turn them on and you get 2–4 player split screen, co-op, a ghost race mode, LAN and online play with friend codes, 89 community mansions, and dumb stuff like moon gravity and Oops! All Spiders. Runs on Mac, Linux, and somehow a PS3.

Meet Henry Malone. He's a whole new playable character I designed for After Midnight, and he's player 2 by default, with his own sprites, so you can always tell who's who in split screen.
Midnight Mansion was created by Vern Jensen.

How these get made: I use AI coding tools for the decompiling. Rebuilding thousands of functions from an old compiled game, one by one, is something no person could realistically do by hand, and that's the part it's good at. Everything around that is me: the custom art (like the extra player sprites and the multiplayer screens in After Midnight), directing every step, hours of playing through and logging bugs, and checking it against the original until it's right. The original art and music belong to the people who made those games.
Welcome 2 the Brownie Zone!!
About me
Hi!! I'm Kiki. I make music (STONE), I make plug-ins (that's what Brownie Digital is), and I take a lot of blurry photos at night. My favourite colour is brown, in case the site didn't give it away.
